Here's what some of our clients are saying about us!

Certified Sustainable Building Advisor Canadian Home Builders Association

We are very happy with our house as designed and built by Albert VanEe. We had some clear ideas as to what we wanted, and Albert helped make these a reality while suggesting many things we hadn't thought of. He placed the house on the site so that it takes maximum advantage of the setting and the view, while working with a relatively narrow, steep lot. There are houses close by, but the design provides privacy due to careful placement. The double garage was a challenge due to the site, but Albert designed a bridge connecting the garage and the upper floor entry. We wanted a "right-sized" home, not too large, but big enough to incorporate an exercise room on the lower floor, a special spot for the grand piano, a dressing room off the master bedroom, and ample storage. The outdoor areas were important to us, and the design included a covered deck off the master bedroom, and a wrap around deck on the main floor. Even though there are many windows, the overhang from the eaves and the high efficiency window glass ensures that the house stays relatively cool in the Okanagan summers.

At a time when so many houses being built were Craftsman variations, we wanted something different, a beach house look, and Albert provided just that. Jubi Steinhauer did the framing and is a painstaking craftsman; there are no squeaks, and everything is dead level. We have never regretted getting a custom designed and built house from Stonebridge.

Janet and I have entrusted the organizing and construction of our dream home with Albert and Jubi. They have exceeded our expectations with their passion for innovation and attention to detail. At their suggestion, we were able recycle and re-use the floor joists from the Laurel building for our flooring and trim. They were open and very often accommodating at every stage of conceptualization and construction. The process was very transparent and they adhered to our budget, which was often very challenging. Their demeanor and candor was very professional and informative, enabling us to problem solve quickly to our satisfaction. They were attentive and were able to quickly identify with the aesthetic and philosophy of our home. They were able to realize and contribute to our vision, producing a product ideally suited to our lifestyle. I would not hesitate to recommend them for any scale of project. I would welcome any questions concerning their building process and professionalism. Janet and I would gladly offer our home for their future clients to view. Thank-you and well done Albert and Jubi!!!

"We are so pleased with our new build/renovation project.  The workmanship is top quality and our space has gained some unique and meaningful  features that Jubi and his crew from Stonebridge Contemporay Originals provided while working on our project.  Jubi and his crew are conscientious (the site was always clean, and our new neighbours loved them for that!); communicative (to ensure we knew what was happening when and why); and finally masters of their craft taking no short cuts and it shows in the final results.  When we're ready to build our next project we will definitely be hiring Stonebridge again."

Jubi and his crew built our craftsman home in Kelowna more than six years ago and while I'm biased, I still think it is the most beautiful home in the Okanagan. We think of it as country modern--airy and many-windowed with a mix of reclaimed wood and modern fittings. It's cozy, but smart.

We watched the building process very closely--it was the first home we'd built and we wanted everything just right. At no point did Jubi and his crew cut any corners. They used only the highest quality materials and paid minute attention to every aspect of the design and construction. We also had complete trust in the decisions and billing process--I have friends who have since built homes with builders that have hugely distrusted the people buying materials or doing the work. We had no such misgivings.

It was important to us that we build as ecologically as possible and if anything, Jubi's environmental conscientiousness was even stronger than our own. We used a lot of recycled material and timbers, and he gently suggested other ways that we could minimize energy expenditure and waste. Six years later, we are still delighted with our geothermal/heat pump system, our metal roof, and our gorgeous wood-frame high-E windows.

We realized recently that under our house insurance, if we lost our home to fire or other cause, the contract to rebuild would be an open-bid process. Impossible. We opted to shop around for new insurance that would allow us to choose our builder: it is critical to us that if something happens to our home, we want Stonebridge Contemporary Originals to do the rebuild. And if we ever build a home again, we will be asking Jubi to do it.
